This has to be one of the best places in East Baton Rouge for Catfish and Crawfish. I don't think you will find a friendlier place in town.I've been stopping by for about 2 years now.
Thanks Montalbano's for some of the best eats in town.

Budget friendly recipes from southern cooks.

With gas prices going up and down, unemployment at an all time high and everyone wondering who’ll be next to lose their job, lots of people are looking for ways to cut corners and save money. There are plenty of websites out there happy to tell you how to do it. But how practical are they? The last website I saw said you should think about vacationing in the U.S. instead of going overseas this year. Really? Um, some of us are wondering if we should turn off the heat this winter and bundle up in 20 layers just to lower the electric bill, and they’re saying to knock off the trendy vacations?

Those kinds of sites convinced me it’s time to share some things that are more practical. My plan is to make this site friendly, fun, dare I say, thrifty. That might be a word your mother or maybe even your grandmother used, but is it valid in 2011? For those of us on a strict budget, it is time to make it a one! I’m going to share some budget-friendly (thrifty) recipes for those of us who aren’t just cutting back by “brown-bagging once a week to work” or bringing coffee from home instead of stopping for a double-mocha-latte-skinny-whatever, but are looking for ways to really reduce expenses.

Before I learned how to cook there were times I lived off peanut butter sandwiches and fried liver while waiting for a paycheck. I had friends who lived off cauliflower and popcorn for a while. I’m going to share some recipes that are way more creative than that, but honestly, won’t cost you much more.

From the southern US, best known as the south. Southern cooking on a budget that will make you always come back for more.
